JOHANNESBURG - Manhole victim wins R706 000 lawsuit - LOYISO SIDIMBA
A bricklayer has successfully sued the City of Johannesburg after he fell into an uncovered manhole while jogging. The city was ordered to pay Butise Madolo R706 000 by the South Gauteng High Court after he was left partially disabled. Madolo fell into the manhole and broke his right knee while jogging at night in Fordsburg, downtown Johannesburg, in 2005.
