PROBLEM STILL NOT RESOLVED

PROBLEMS AS ON 2016/11/21

ELECTRICAL

Recently (10 August) an 8 year old girl, Charlene Jacobs, ’n was killed at an open electrical connection in Leandra.  But there are still a number of open electrical connections in the Govan Mbeki area.

MANHOLES AND PAVEMENTS

SOME TIME AGO - An Mpumalanga farmer who fell into a manhole containing human faeces and condoms in 2009 is suing the Govan Mbeki municipality for R255 000, Beeld reported  - 2013-07-29 http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/Mpumalanga-man-sues-after-manhole-fall-20130729

Still there are a number of similar problem in the Govan Mbeki area.

SEWERAGE AND WATER MAINS

Another problem that are still with us, but do receive attention from time to time.

ROAD SAFETY AND SIGNS

Road sings and markings in the Govan Mbeki area lave a lot to desire. a Number of sings and marking are not according to what the law requires.

Look at these road signs, daily members of the Traffic Department see it but does nothing. The perpetrators even supply them with telephone numbers, but nothing gets done.

Two lanes ahead, but the left is marked as a must "Turn Left" - why? It causes drivers to break the law on a daily basis

What about this, thank you for re-tarring the road, but look at the solid white line down Bram Fischer road. The residents must break the law on a daily basis to be able to turn into their residences. The line is suppose to be a broken white line according to the law.

THATS ALL FOR NOW.

Problems get noticed, not in the office but in the streets of our towns.

BE AWARE OF THE DANGERS IN OUR DISTRICT

 ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

Dangerous electrical connections are found all over our towns in the Govan Mbeki District Municipality. See photos below.

Recently (10 August) an 8 year old girl, Charlene Jacobs, ’n was killed at an open electrical connection in Leandra

Melkbos.net reported as follows:

AfriForum, in conjunction with a branch of the civil rights organisation in Leandra, has laid complaints of murder and culpable homicide against two employees of the Govan Mbeki Local Municipality. The complaints arise from the death of Charlene Jacobs (8) from Leandra. Charlene was electrocuted on the afternoon of 10 August when she touched a lamppost in a street.

In a statement released yesterday AfriForum states that “an independent expert attributes Jacobs’s death to the illegal electrical connections on this pole and the fact that there is no earth wire attached to the lamppost.” According AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Mpumalanga West, Hillel Coetzer, the actions of the municipal employees are criminal in nature because poor service delivery and impaired maintenance have led to the death of a child.
